Special containers



Special containers: Not all cargoes will fit, or can be broken down to fit, inside a standard 20 or 40' container. Therefore a wide variety of "special" containers have been developed.

Apart from the types shown in more detail on the other pages, there are many variations to the theme of containers. The container without a roof; an Open Top, without sides and roof; a Flat Rack, without roof or sides or ends; a Platform Flat.

Half Height containers have been developed for heavy cargoes.

45' and even 53' containers are used for light cargoes and Ventilated containers and Insulated containers are used for tempereture and moisture sensetive cargoes.

3: Refrigerated container
Frozen or chilled cargoes are moved in reefer containers. The container is 20 or 40' long with insulation and an electric refrigerator fitted in the front. The containers can be electric or diesel-electric for self sustained operation. Onboard the container ships the reefers are connected to the ships power and can be monitored from the the bridge. On very advanced ships the monitoring is extended via satelite to the shipper who in turn can supervise his expensive cargo of chilled or frozen goods. The Bulk container has been developed as a means of transporting pellets/granulates/chips/powder or any solid commodity which can be loaded and discharged in bulk. Container Leasing has a fleet of 30' Bulk containers available for sale, lease or lease purchase. The containers are not only used for transport but are ideally suited as flexible storage facilities. 9: 45 ft container
Container Leasing are the experts in construction and development of 45' containers. The 45ft curtain sided container will provide the customer with a fully intermodal freight unit. It can be fully registered for transport by rail in addition to road, sea and barge. Several different options are also available, such as drop down aluminium side gates.
